E-REVs may be obsolete before they hit the show rooms says Simon Lindley host of the popular Trucked Up EVs YouTube Channel.
Just as US automakers were cancelling EVS E-REVs were thought to be the magic pill to address affordability and range anxiety in EVS.
The idea is build a shorter range EV, say 150-200 km, add a generator and presto you have a cheaper EV with a range of 1,100 km.
The trouble is, says Lindley, battery technology is improving a light speed, the price of batteries is plummeting and EV car makers are already building cars that address the issues the E-REVS were supposed to solve.
