The racing industry relies on their horses to exist. They make people gamble on them by promoting the individual horses’ profiles, making them into celebrity athletes. Yet, as soon as tragedy hits, the industry acts as if these star athletes never even existed.
The footage of them is erased. The race continues as if nothing happened. The race caller is shifting people’s attention away from the green screen by focussing on the rest of the race field.
Not even a moment of silence in honour of the horse who lost their life can be spared before the next race is run💔 If they did, it would ruin the fun for the punters and alert them to the fact that the horses who are forced to risk their lives for their entertainment, are sentient, living beings, who deserve respect and dignity.
