In this eye-opening interview, Dr. Shamas shares critical lessons learned from surviving two major hurricanes just 12 days apart—including what to do when the power goes out, sewage systems fail, and you have medical needs like insulin-dependent diabetes.
Dr. Shamas was kind enough to share her short list of what to buy fast to be ready. Now is the best time to make sure you have what you need.
• 2 weeks of food (at a minimum), nonperishable

• Keep a minimum of 10 flats of water. It goes fast. More is better

• Charged electric scooters or electric bikes are great for getting around when there is no gas.

• Keep lots of AA, AAA, C, and D batteries handy. Please put them in your box with your lights/lanterns.
