Scene 13: Character: Alan.

Alan’s voice talking about his horseback riding as “sexy”connect
these rituals to a kind of passionate and even sexual connection.
It reveals the sexual part ofAlan’s connection to horses. His description
of the horse “going any way you wanted” shows his will to control the horse physically and sexually. He has a feeling of freedom wth the horse that he does not have otherwise. His connection also includes his care for the
horse’s pain and his vision of the horse as equal. Alan sees people as potentially limited but in a metaphorical way.
