Sketchbook B | EPISODE 8: ROBOFISH! - Attempting Marker Universe's MAY COLOURS OF THE MONTH CHALLENGE! @sketchbookb | Uploaded May 2020 | Updated October 2024, 1 hour ago.
Brent Florica here, in this episode of Sketchbook B, I attempt Marker Universe's May Colours of the Month Challenge! Only three colours can be used alone or in combination, plus black and white for inking.
Watch last month’s drawing:

May's colours (in copic markers):
-YR04 Chrome Orange
-YG06 Yellowish Green
-BG07 Petroleum Blue (I don't have this marker so I used BG45 Nile Blue, it's very close in shade so I'm rolling with it!)
-Also used my micron pens
Loved the result and I hope you do too!
For this art challenge, I tried to be more detailed and creative. The blue, orange and green colours worked really well for colouring an underwater scene, so I made a robot fish, or robofish, based on the world of Mortal Engines. I pictured this robofish as a great underwater predator city, basing the design on a sailfish and building up from there. It felt like a character design in many ways as the city came alive with personality. I love working as a traditional artist, especially doing copic marker art, and in this video I take you through each step from concept sketches to pencilling, inking, and colouring. My adventure as a YouTube artist has only begun, and I want beginners to see that anyone can get to their goals if they only start walking down the path today! I hope that you enjoy this drawing, my latest step on the journey of artistic and creative improvement. Please subscribe and come on the journey with me!
