"'My experience is that we as federal regulators do a much better job writing regulations when we have listened and learned from our stakeholders on what will work and what won’t; when we hear the perspectives of our FDA staff stationed around the country and the world; and when we collaborate with our state partners who have a critical role in ensuring the safety of the food supply. Seeing with our owns eyes, from the farm fields to the facilities, is really the best way for us to appreciate the challenges on the ground and the impact of our decisions.
