Cleo McNelly Kearns, judeo-christian in religion, anarchist in politics, classicist in art, and spinozan in philosophy, is a recovering academic, scholar and writer who works in and across the fields of literary theory, anthropology, continental philosophy, and comparative religion. She is the author of two books, T. S. Eliot and Indic Traditions (Cambridge University Press, 1998) and The Virgin Mary: Monotheism and Sacrifice (Cambridge University Press, 2008) and of numerous articles on topics ranging from Lacan and Derrida to the role of ritual in spiritual practice. Her current project is a study of the engagement of continental philosophy with the Abrahamic scriptures. She lives in rural Vermont, is a Visiting Scholar at Dartmouth College and gives seminars and classes through Incite Seminars in Philadelphia. Oh, and she thinks a lot these days about landscape design, ice fishing, and Chinese Taoist poetry; just saying.
