Statistical modeling of infectious diseases allows researchers to study disease transmission, quantify the effectiveness of interventions, and forecast future epidemic trajectory, aiding the public health mission to stop the spread of such diseases. This presentation will cover several popular approaches to infectious disease modeling and compare the benefits and goals of each approach. The modeling approaches will be illustrated and explored in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic.
