Trailer for an upcoming fanfic, you may have heard me or Pokey mention it somewhere along the way. It's a much darker, plot oriented take on the anime taking place in an alternate future after the original series. Basically, everything after the Kanto League is rewritten. Full of old faces, explanations that should have been given long ago, and Pokemon communication ala the Island episode, I think any fans who felt a little unenthusiastic about the series after the "good old days" will enjoy jumping into Epic Pokemon.
To put it simply, originally the series was going to end after the first league. This was put into panic mode when the show was temporarily canceled in 97 because of the Porygon incident. Frantic to finish the story, Mewtwo Strikes Back originally finished up the League Saga, the final battle with Mewtwo, AND the entire series.
Of course, before the movie was released, they realized they would be back on the air, and once the show went over so well in America (and the games' sales didn't die as expected), the movie was turned into a standard anime action spin-off and the series continued beyond, becoming formulaic and never having any real closure to anything that was foreshadowed. Series writer Shudo has made it obvious he wanted to have the show stay as dark as it was (unlike what happened once Johto started), so taking this all into mind Epic Pokemon is a fan's look into the series that could have been.
