This is a brief overview of the Japan Pavilion at Epcot's World Showcase. One of the pavilion's main architectural highlights is the giant torii gate that can be seen from everywhere around World Showcase Lagoon. It is a replica of a real torii gate located outside of Hiroshima, Japan.
The pavilion hosts five eateries (one of the most in Epcot); there is the Katsura Grill on the hill, Kabuki Cafe, Garden House, Tokyo Dining and Teppan Edo. Japan is often considered the France of Asia when it comes to cuisine and it is evident here at the pavilion in Epcot.
But perhaps the most popular aspect of this pavilion is the Mitsukoshi Store. This is one of the largest stores in Epcot and is sponsored by the real Mitsukoshi Department Store that is located in Tokyo. The shop offers one of the biggest arrays of products ranging from authentic kimonos, bonsai trees, plateware, traditional candy and sweets, Tokyo pop merchandise and a sake bar.
