In this episode we discuss the fanbases of artists, and cultivating a healthy balance between what we want and what we need. Whether it is about building culture or building fanbases, our principles about how we do this actually matters quite a bit, and it can either help or harm our culture depending upon how we go about it. Fans can also help cultivate better artists by supporting the right ones. The ones which give us what we need and not what we want is key. So what do we need? We need real questions about life answered, not just bread & circuses. We need to see Rome fixed, not just to see gladiatorial combat.
