In this 4th of July episode, Katrina and Jefferson start off by performing an acoustic version of “America the Beautiful” as a reminder that, as Americans, we belong together and we are here for each other. Tied into the theme of unity and caring, Katrina and JD also unpack the notion that “doing good does you good” and the scientifically supported evidence that proves it! Next, we meet Scoutmaster Mike Lanning who has dedicated his life to the future of our country through his outstanding dedication to the youth of The Boy Scouts of America. He has been leading Troop 223 in Pacific Palisades, California for 67 years and has guided over 800 boys in attaining the rank of Eagle Scout – a national record of any Scoutmaster! Now for the first time in it’s over 100-year history, the iconic program for 11-18 yr olds, Scouts BSA, is open to both young men and young women. In addition to leading Troop 223B (“B” for boys), Scoutmaster Lanning is now leading Troop 223G (“G” for girls), the largest troop of young women in the nation with over 50 girls on their way to becoming some of the first female Eagles Scouts ever!
