In this concert recorded on May 28, 2021, as part of our celebration of Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) Heritage Month, Ensemble HanSori's musical performance explores themes of lineage, featuring violinist Er-Gene Kahng and pianist Hyun Kim. The musical language of Korean and Korean American composers Sunhee Cho, Jean Ahn, Jonghee Kang, and Seong Ae Kim will meditate upon stories of cultural inheritance, adoption, and dispossession―personal, historical, and artistic.
ABOUT ENSEMBLE HANSORI
Ensemble HanSori’s name is inspired by the idea of coming together and finding unity through sound. In Korean, “Sori” means “sound,” and “Han” embodies meanings such as good, righteous, significant, bright, complete, embracing, and prosperous, among others. Together, HanSori aims to musically explore and express the values and hopes for a better life that come through mutual understanding, cooperation, support, and unity through shared empathy.
