Regan Benson | ENGLEWOOD, CO Judge Jefferson- SOLVING HOMELESSNESS? @ReganBenson | Uploaded January 2024 | Updated October 2024, 5 hours ago.
Please pay special attention to the second case being heard at about 10:00.
Why does Englewood,CO take extra steps to create 34 cases on a man for existing in public, who's harmed no one? Mr. Peek is currently sitting in jail for 30 days on a plea deal for trespassing on public property; the sidewalk and parks. He can no longer exist in public in designated public spaces aka area restrictions. He can no longer access services at a non profit that serves the homeless. His crime? Trespassing.
His only family is his 81 year old mother who lives in Englewood and now he's trespassed from the public park near her home. You'll hear him ask "where do you want me to go?"
How can these area restrictions hold up in court? They're seemingly very unconstitutional. Why does the City of Englewood use such inhumane tactics on a municipal level and expect the courts to solve homelessness?
Tri-Cities homeless must have a goal to criminalize people into Denver with Englewood donating $1.4M to the project.
