First-generation and dual major student, Eric Gutierrez-Camacho, became interested in biomedical engineering at an early age after undergoing guided growth plate surgery on both knees to correct leg bowing. Inspired by this personal experience with orthopedics, he joined a senior design team working on Mediflex, a 3D-printed prosthetic foot designed to return energy to the user.
