The new generation of Honda i-VTEC engines was introduced with the debut of DC5 Integra Type R. This K series K20A engine is 10kg lighter than B series B18C engine, features VTC unit which continuously adjusts the relative angle of intake camshaft, making the engine produce greater torque at lower and higher RPM as well. Reversed intake and exhaust manifold enabled the engine to be mounted lower and the catalytic converter to heat up faster.
