Zack Giffin of Tiny House Nation installed a polycarbonate-plastic skylight while building this beautiful tiny home. He also built in energy-saving insulation: youtu.be/8WP_tOlVXZI

The skylight helps reduce energy cost by providing thermal resistance and UV protection.

Zack Giffin's tiny-house project shows that plastics-based construction materials can help any house – tiny or not-so-tiny – significantly improve its energy efficiency and reduce its environmental footprint. This tiny house uses a variety of innovative plastic insulation and sealants to form a continuous thermal barrier, helping create a tight building envelope that improves energy efficiency and saves money on heating and cooling.

Zack's house even has tough, plastic solar-energy shingles; they protect the roof while making it possible to to go off the grid!

To demonstrate the wide range of innovative plastic building materials that contribute to energy efficiency, Plastics Make it Possible built a tiny house in Boulder, CO. From insulation and sealants, to siding and windows, plastics help reduce the amount of unwanted airflow between the inside and outside of a house so we can save energy used in heating and cooling. And though this house is only 170 square feet, plastic building materials can dramatically improve energy efficiency in any size home!
