Molten Music Technology | Energy Crisis! What about synths? @MoltenMusicTech | Uploaded October 2022 | Updated October 2024, 6 hours ago.
With energy prices climbing, how much does it cost to run a small studio full of synths, modular, computers and cameras? Please note that my energy comes from 100% electricity - no gas, no oil, no wood-burning stove.
Maths Simplification!
I overcomplicated the maths. While it is still correct and logically reasoned (at least in my head) all that business about dividing the wattage into 1 is unnecessary. To calculate the cost per hour, all you need to do is multiply the watts in kW by the cost per kW.
So, 160W becomes 0.16kW multiplied by 35p = 5.6p
That's much easier! Thanks to all who pointed it out :D
Index / Intro - 0:00
My energy setup - 3:51
Measuring my usage with Smart Plugs - 9:27
Setting up the Smart Plug from scratch to measure synths - 23:44
So what's the total cost? - 29:57
What's the answer? - 35:50
