In this video, we demonstrate endoscopic closure of a quadriceps tendon defect using the LoopLink™ suture system, a technique commonly performed after ACL reconstruction with a quad tendon autograft.
After harvesting a quadriceps tendon graft, a full-thickness defect remains that requires closure to optimize healing, reduce fluid leakage, and prevent postoperative discomfort.
🔧 Procedure Overview
The procedure begins with endoscopic visualization of the quadriceps tendon defect, where the surgeon identifies the gap created by graft harvest.
Closure starts with a luggage-tag suture at the apex of the defect, bringing the two tendon edges together for initial stabilization.
A running suture technique is then performed using the LoopLink™ suture, alternating passes through both sides of the tendon to progressively close the defect.
The suture can be placed using an endoscopic device (such as a Scorpion passer), allowing precise tissue capture even through small incisions.
As the repair advances, the tendon edges are approximated, creating a watertight closure that promotes healing and reduces postoperative complications.
The repair is completed by tying and burying a low-profile knot, minimizing irritation and improving patient comfort.
