Lucas—a four-month-old endangered Rodrigues fruit bat that was hand raised at the San Diego Zoo Safari Park’s Ione and Paul Harter Animal Care Center after the death of his mother—has just started to use his wings on a couple of practice flights, although they are more like flutters right now.
