[ The plot and world of End of Youth ]

Jonathan, our hero, is a young twenty-something who (like everyone else) works for the government. His job exists to oppress others on behalf of the state. The one glimmer of humanity left in his life is his father, a widower who lost his wife during a pandemic.

One day, Jonathan stops hearing from his father. Days turn to weeks with no contact. Knowing full well that his father may have been reported and removed from society, Chris risks his “freedom” to go in search of his father, only to discover for himself what happens to the criminal class in this new world, and in the process discovering the true meaning of freedom.

The Genre

To properly categorize this project, this is an eschatology sci-fi thriller. The story and some of the prominent themes akin to Shawshank Redemption, meets Image of the Beast, or Left Behind. A story of perseverance, resistance against human corruption, and the pursuit of individual freedom.

About the writer & Director

My name is Carlos Camargo, I’m originally from Mexico City, Mexico. I grew up in a Christian home, with my parents being highly involved in the church. Like most people my age who grew up in the church, I went through quite a period of individuation through which I was able to discover my faith in Jesus for myself.

I’m proud to say my faith in Christ is strong due to my life experience, and I live my covenant with Him through my devotion to my family and service at my local church, Master’s Touch in Federal Way, WA.

As a filmmaker, I’ve spent most of my life pursuing a career as an independent film producer, working out of Washington State. I’m a commercial filmmaker and videographer by trade, and my commercial career is what feeds my creative, faith based film passion, and calling.

My personal story however, has little or nothing to do with End of Youth. This is a story born out of pure inspiration and has its roots in my personal fascination with the eschatology movie genre, and Biblical topic. I believe that now is the time to be making powerful, intense, edge-of-your-seat movies that deal in a serious way with Biblical themes, and that preach an unapologetic Gospel message founded in truth, and guided by Scripture.
