Located in the city’s northeastern suburbs, the Nangak Tambore Wildlife Sanctuary is a 30‑hectare reserve set aside by La Trobe University as a refuge for native plants and animals.

Just over a year ago, emus were reintroduced to the site to help restore lost ecological processes.
