I used the exact same settings on the amp but raised the gain of the JB by about 5dB to match its level to the output of the EMG in order to get the same amount of distortion from the amp for a fair comparison.
The JB has loads more low end below 200Hz and the Hetfield has a ton more high end above 3kHz. They actually sound quite different and it really comes down to personal taste.
I like how fast tracking and tight the low end is on the EMG, but the JB definitely has a growl that I like.
Amp was an EVH 5150III without no boost and no post processing.
btw, I gotta say I definitely prefer the antiquity to the regular JB by far.
