The Emfuleni Local Municipality in the Vaal says it has lost R8.3-million to an illegal electricity reconnection scam.

Seven Emfuleni employees have appeared in the Vanderbijlpark Magistate's Court, facing charges of fraud, theft, money laundering and tampering with essential infrastructure.
