At ist annual NI Connect 2026 conference in Dallas Forth Worth, Texas, Emerson announced the expansion of its NI Nigel AI across its test software portfolio, introducing new prompt-based code generation in the NI LabVIEW Suite. The company also said it is further evolving this platform into an integrated, AI-ready test automation platform, moving the Nigel AI tool from being an advisor to authoiring and ultimately in 2027 becoming a full agentic AI tool for T&M.
The aim of the company is to make enable engineers to accelerate test development using an AI tool immersed in their test development environment across its full software portfolio, including NI FlexLogger, NI InstrumentStudio, NI TestStand and NI SystemLink, providing context-aware guidance across the test lifecycle – from development and reuse to validation and deployment.
In a conversation with EE Times' Nitin Dahad, Emerson's Rudy Sengupta, who is vice president and general manager, for NI test and analytics software, said that they had already seen a 20% uptake of Nigel AI in its 'advisor' role among its customers, and a huge uptick in new seats for Labview in the last year.
In the video, Sengupta explains this adoption and how he sees this progressing as AI tools proliferate in the text development liefcyle.
