Back in the early days of Esalen, seekers would journey here to experience seminars led by some of the most fascinating academic, philosophical and religious minds of the era. These thought leaders trekked to Big Sur to share their big ideas and bold theories far from their home institutions. Digging deeply and openly, we emerged as a unique, open space to dialogue about concepts typically unspoken about.

We embrace this titillating academic vigor with the arrival of Ramzi Fawaz, a humanities and pop culture scholar teaching at University of Wisconsin, Madison, who will lead "Think Like a Multiverse: Pathways to Wonder, Kinship, and Radical Openness " June 23–27, 2025.
