Prospective purchasers of properties in the first phase of a 3,500-home development in Battersea Power Station in London enjoyed an exclusive Elton John concerts on Wednesday (April 30).

Among the celebrities attending the show were Grace Jones, Pompeii and Game of Thrones actor Kit Harrington and British Olympic diver Tom Daley and his boyfriend 'Milk' screenwriter Dustin Lance Black.

"It's the first time I have come to see Elton in concert so I am really looking forward to it, I have never seen him perform. I hear he is amazing so I am really looking forward to it," Daley said.

Talking about renewed media interest in his personal life since he came out as gay and began dating screenwriter Dustin Lance Black, who at the age of 39 is twenty years older than him, Daley said:

"I mean yes, it has been pretty crazy since the whole shebang happened but I mean it's been fun and everyone's been so supportive so it's been good."

During the concert Elton John blasted through a string of classic hits including Your Song, The One and I'm Still Standing.

The gig was held inside one of the UK's most recognisable landmarks, Battersea Power Station, which became known to many music fans outside the UK after it featured on the front cover of Pink Floyd's Animals album.

The developers have not said how much they are paying Elton John to play the concert but the 67-year-old singer has previously been reported to charge more than half a million pounds for a private show, with proceeds going to his charitable foundation.

The event is being billed by developers as 'a party for the community that we are creating on the site'.

The audience was made up of celebrities and individuals who had already committed to buying properties in the first phase of the development, and those interested in the next phase, a spokesperson for the developers said. Studio apartments in the new development are set to cost close to £1m and a four-bedroom home will cost around £4m.

The site -- complete with the grade II listed remains of Gilbert Scott's brick masterpiece -- was bought by Malaysian investors who want to inject glamour into a corner of London not normally associated with the very wealthiest property buyers.
