Rovers signed midfielder, Elliott Bennett, from Norwich City in January 2016. It was a move that reunited Bennett with his former boss at Norwich, Paul Lambert, who was the Blackburn Rovers manager at the time. Lambert's stay at Rovers was to be short lived as he announced his impending departure from the club at the end of the 2015/16 season.

However, Bennett proved to be a player that Lambert trusted as he played and started almost every game between January and May 2016, making 21 Championship appearances, with 20 of those being starts as a right sided midfielder. He made his debut for Rovers on the 12th of January 2016 in a home game against QPR and scores hid first Rovers goal in February 2016 against MK Dons at Ewood Park.

In the 2016/17 season, Rovers had appointed a new manger in Owen Coyle and Bennett did not feature much at all for the first half of the season with the manager preferring to play Liam Feeney out wide on the right. It was only when Blackburn changed managers again, in February 2017, and with the arrival of Tony Mowbray in the dugout that Bennett became a more of a first team regular. Bennett managed to rack up 28 appearances in all in the 2016/17 campaign, with the majority of those coming under Tony Mowbray's leadership. The season however, sadly, turned out to be a disastrous one for Bennett and Rovers as the club was relegated to League One.

It was in League One, during the 2017/18 season, that Bennett's experience, versatility and professionalism really came to the fore. The midfielder, along with a batch of other experienced pros in the squad really rallied together and dug in to ensure that Blackburn Rovers returned to the Championship at the first attempt. Bennett struck up a real rapport with the Rovers fans, who appreciate his whole hearted efforts in a blue and white shirt to this day. His versatility saw him play a number of positions during his time at Rovers, ranging from left midfield, right midfield and central midfield. He is remembered as being an honest, hardworking professional who gave it his all and his connection with the fans remains, with supporters fondly recalling Bennett''s fist pump celebration that he would do with the crowd following big results or big moments.

Following promotion from League One in May 2018, Bennett would stay on to play for three more seasons at Rovers in the Championship, making a combined 94 appearances over that three year period. He also had the honour of being club captain for the 2019/20 campaign. Bennett left Rovers in the summer of 2021 to sign for Shrewsbury Town.

Elliott Bennett made 192 appearances in total for Blackburn Rovers between 2016-2021 and scored nine goals. Here are those goals.
