This new video of Elijah playing the same instrument is closer to the true sound of the yirdaki. By putting more distance between the microphone and the instrument, we've been able to minimise distortion and the automatic gain control of our recording unit.
Anyway, this is the last and best yirdaki we have of Laga, it remains to be seen whether he will make more but judging by his recent condition and general deterioration in health, it may be a while before he comes out of the dark place he is currently in.
Elijah loves this yirdaki and has chosen it as his favourite out of the several hundred instruments we have at iDIDJ Australia. He brought it to a party last Sunday night to jam with friends of ours and other musicians, good night that was.
