Elephantine Island is one of the largest of southern islands on the Nile, located in Aswan. The length of the island from north to south is 1.2 km, and from east to west is about 400 m at its widest point.
This site is of great interest for further scientific research. In particular, the powerful structure with a 5-meter-thick walls, perhaps, not originally been intended only for measuring the level of the Nile. It, probably, carried much more certain and important function...
