Follow The Music Co-author Gavin Daws interviews Elektra artist Theodore Bikel about the early days of Elektra. Bikel was a well known stage actor and performer in the late 1940s and 1950s, having originating the roles of Tevye the Milkman in Fiddler on the Roof, and Captain Von Trapp in the original Broadway production of The Sound of Music.
Jac invited Theodore to perform around the growing folk scene in New York and in 1955, Bikel began recording for the label. Here his memories, in his own words, here, as part of the celebration of 75 years of Elektra records.
