Using paper clips as electrodes, this video shows the electrolysis of water, containing sodium sulfate. in the bulb of a pipette. The liquid is coloured with a smidgeon of methyl red. hydrogen and oxygen is produced. A spark causes the explosion. This is a temporary video as the equipment is improved for general use. The remarkable yellow flash lasting as little as 1/250th of a second is beautiful.
