Plastic water pipes don't need main bonding... right? But what about the water inside them?
To settle the debate, we connected a wandering lead to the metal pipework on one side of a plastic water service and tested whether electricity could travel through the water itself.
With copper pipe, water, plastic pipe and a 1000V insulation resistance test, the results were either going to prove a point or create more questions.
Would the water provide a conductive path? Would we get a measurable reading? And what does it actually mean for bonding requirements?
