There’s a lot of misunderstanding about what older adults need to live fee from harm. We’re working to change that.

For a decade, EDC has led the National Collaboratory to Address Elder Mistreatment. We’re designing, testing, and implementing new models of age-friendly health care.

Recently, the US Preventative Services Task Force announced its recommendation that elder mistreatment screening not be required in primary care. In response, EDC's Kristin Lees-Haggerty, principal investigator of the Collaboratory, discusses the benefits of early screening, and why waiting presents a critical missed opportunity to identify people at risk for mistreatment.
