"Cower. Before Maliketh, the Black Blade."
A solo, melee only Rune Level 1 (RL1) fight against Beast Clergyman / Maliketh, the Black Blade with no upgrades, no auxiliary effects (bleed, frost, poison, scarlet rot etc), no weapon buffs and no hits. The entire fight is doable without Ashes of war like Bloodhound's step, but it helps here as an offensive tool to go behind him and punish during the blade of Death flurry, as well as escaping the stunning roar which cannot be reliably rolled if Maliketh does it while player is in his face since the hitbox lingers.
Overall a consistent and enjoyable fight, and despite being twice shorter than my Dragonlord kill it felt longer because of how much faster and intense the pace of the fight is. Beast Clergyman phase possesses a lot of mixups options for his combos and quick disengage hits, making it a very reaction heavy phase where stamina management is important - if you want to keep the pressure on, most of the phase must be played with one eye on your stamina bar and the other on the boss. Maliketh phase is a bit slower paced and less reaction intensive, the only things to really watch out for being his roar out of idle when the player is too close, and the overhead into flurry followup he can do after several melee combos which needs to be outspaced immediately if you don't have Bloodhound's step. He can also do weird memes with pillars or start an attack while looking in a wrong direction in p2 which changes the dodge timings completely (mostly with his double spin) but it's fortunately a somewhat rare occurence.

![HK - Nightmare King Grimm 1:30 speedkill [Radiant] [Nail only]
This is a 1:30 kill, counting from NKG appearing in the arena (0:12) to last hit (1:42). This is probably the last one Ill do in a while since reaching 1:30 was my goal. With 7-8 hits on pillars, 2 on fire dives and uppercuts and getting the 2 hits on baby Grimm per stagger (apparently the damage caps so getting 3 doesnt do any more), I dont see how this could be further optimized. Landing the dash slash nail art on all three pufferfish attacks seems the only option, but thats very hard to do consistently and would only shave off a couple seconds anyways.

If counting from first hit dealt to Dragonlord Placidusax (0:28), this is a 1:23 minute fast kill. Also done with no hits taken.

Janky fight, he gave me a free kill with these AoEs right after I learned how to deal with his charge. So rather disappointed.

absolute garbage boss. smashing your foot with a plank would be funnier than fighting this screeching frog DS3 - Oceiros, the Consumed King SL1 NG+7 No Roll/Block/Parry [Flawless]](https://i.ytimg.com/vi/zg5wJOM36Us/mqdefault.jpg)
![Dark Souls 2 - Lud and Zallen SL1 CoC No Roll/Block/Parry [Flawless]
Listening to a stream and chilling except its fucking DS2 so it was a mistake to begin with.
One of the worst bosses Ive had to suffer through, 8-9 hours to grind and absolutely zero fun from beginning to end with two 1 hit chokes including one where my character didnt R1 when asked despite full stamina left. This would have been a lot better werent it for unavoidable wall and run pounces, RNG ganking and other bullshit on top of having a player character as maniable as a several meters tall broom in a small hallway. 2/10 (one for each cat) never want to fight that boss on no roll again.
One of the two major roadblocks of the run out of the way, time for Ivory soon...whenever I have time in the next weeks. Dark Souls 2 - Lud and Zallen SL1 CoC No Roll/Block/Parry [Flawless]](https://i.ytimg.com/vi/zsXojN7mzVc/mqdefault.jpg)
![Elden Ring - Maliketh with a +0 colossal sword (No Damage)
A solo, melee only kill of Beast Clergyman / Maliketh, the Black Blade using an unupgraded colossal weapon to test out openings, something I wanted to do before and requested by a viewer comment. Also done without hits.
The character was level 16 for this with Godricks great rune, base level with points spent only in endurance to simulate what a leveled character built for colossal weapons would be using. This kill was improvised on the spot so apologies for the neighbors drilling and hello to my friend @BigDBrian who was hanging out in vc with me while I was doing this.
The general strategy I believe is safe for a colossal fight : Wait for combos enders in phase 1 (specifically the rocks slings), safely run into all of Beast Clergymans attacks when re-engaging him as well as most mid-range incantations. Charged R2s are possible on the Ground drag sweep and after each riposte, before he stands up again. For phase 2, always roll into his combos which will lend you plenty of time for multiple R1s or a charged R2, keep running into him for most combos and learn the projectiles dodge timings and you will be golden for this fight. In base NG the sheer poise damage you can dish out will bully him with staggers, which will be harder as you reach higher NG cycles of course but still a great advantage given his low poise values.
List of safe punishes with colossal swords per attacks in each phase :
Phase 1, Beast Clergyman :
When re-engaging Beast Clergyman, a running R1 is always safe, followed by a roll if need to.
For most of his melee combos, its advised to wait for the final hit (usually a rocks sling throw) which can be punished by a rolling r1. You can also roll away and bait a mid-range projectile instead.
Mid-range projectile throws (rock slings, stone of Gurranq) : Run into him and running R1, if youre too far to run under the rock slings simply roll it and do a rolling r1. This doesnt apply to the disengage versions where Beast Clergyman throws rocks slings while running away, you cant punish those.
Standing slam into beast claws : Roll/walk to the left, and either [rolling r1, roll claws, rolling r1] or simply wait to jump over the claw for a jumping R2.
Ground drag sweep : Go behind him and charged R2.
Ground rupture with rocks : R1 or R2, then run away to clear the rocks and re-engage
Whenever he staggers : R1 him before riposting if you have time, then after riposting immediately perform a fully charged R2 to have a good headstart on the next stagger meter.
Phase 2, Maliketh the Black Blade :
DO NOT roll away from Malikeths melee combos under any circumstance in that phase. Most of his melee combos let you get a charged R2 inbetween the attacks, but doing 2x R1s is just as good and you dont have to commit as much, allowing you to cancel the 2nd one if you misjudged timings.
Opener combo : Charged R2 then R1, if he does the Destined Death combo run away and clear it.
Running swipe combo : Run into the swipe to strafe it, then 2x R1 or CR2.
Double spin attack : Roll to his side (two rolls is recommended for safety) then do a rolling R1 or R2. If you were close enough to manage dodging it with only one roll, you can do a charged R2 but the timing is tight.
Turn-around quick slam combo : Charged R2, roll the follow-up delayed swipe, rolling r1.
Jump explosion : Run away from him to bait the Aerial spin attack, then run back in to make him land past you and charged R2.
Projectiles into ground crash/jump on pillar into ground crash : Roll under him, then roll again to dodge the follow-up AoE explosion and do a rolling r1. Its also possible to do a jumping R2 if you feel like his stance is about to break, but its slightly risky.
Build : Rune Level 16, all points into endurance for stamina
Weapon : Zweihander +0, no Ashes of War/affinities
Talismans : Red feathered branchsword, Strarscourge Heirloom, Green Turtle talisman, Viridian amber medaillon +2
Bonus items : Godricks Great Rune
