The Tammys were discovered by Lou Christie and collaborated with him on a few recordings as backing vocalists. "Egyptian Shumba" was the second of three singles by the girl-group trio. The 1963 single was a regional hit in Pittsburgh and Cleveland, but it did not chart nationallly. In later years it has become an underground cult hit.
