A discussion about the inherent tradeoff of efficiency vs. robustness.
(As a note, it is possible to be less efficient than optimal for a given level of robustness, and less robust than possible for a given level of efficiency. I'm just saying that efficiency puts a cap on the maximum amount of robustness possible, and vice versa. Things can be just bad—inefficient and fragile.)
