The LSO perform movements from Elgar's Enigma Variations as part of the 2026 BMW Classics concert live from Trafalgar Square.

Elgar's Enigma Variations celebrates the composer's closest friends, each variation portraying a different personality through music. Variation XI, GRS, is dedicated to Elgar's friend George Robertson Sinclair, organist of Hereford Cathedral. Rather than depicting Sinclair himself, the lively music paints the antics of his bulldog, Dan, who famously tumbled into a river before scrambling out with a triumphant bark.
