I've been painting in some unusual ways recently, and it has culminated recently in what I am referrint to as the 'swamp' technique, for using a single pile of paint on a pallet, and continually adding paint to mix the single pile into whatever you need for the next part of the painting process, be it highlight/shadow, a new hue, more or less saturation and so on. This, surprisingly, gives a great amount of flexibility, giving a platform for many other techniques to be practiced, by taking away any worries about the 'exact' paint you 'need' at any moment.
