"Hoodoo" Moses Shenassa is a cultural anthropologist and folklorist, based in Colorado. He received his BA in Cultural Anthropology in 2003, with a focus on the magicoreligious practices of indigenous and diasporic communities. He went on to complete an MFA in Writing and Poetics in 2008 with a thesis on magic and occultism in 20th century underground literature.

Since 2016, Moses' work and research have explored and emphasized the unsanctioned spiritual beliefs and ritual practices of people preserving cultural identities away from their homelands. He is interested in looking at how spiritual concepts are preserved, hidden and adapted across time and space, and how they retain their functionality in pragmatic settings.

Moses is also the founder of Holy Mountain Spiritualist Temple, a 501(c)3 religious organization dedicated to helping and guiding seekers through ancestral methods and teachings, and to the preservation of folk religion, folk magic, and folk spirituality.
