This is a video about European Music Archaeology (EMAP) Volume 4, an album made as a collaboration between EMAP (www.emaproject.eu), Delphian Records and Rupert Till of the University of Huddersfield. This album features reconstructions of the oldest known musical instruments, bone flutes made from vulture and swan bone and mammoth ivory. Archaeologists have painstakingly made reconstructions of these ancient instruments, and they are played here by flautist Anna Friederike Potengowski. The album features compositions by Anna, as well as by composer Georg Wieland Wagner, who also features on the album playing percussion. The original bone instruments are from 40,000 and 20,000 years ago. Producer Rupert Till digitally added the acoustics of the caves where archaeologists found the instruments.
