Winner of the 2025 European Digital Connectivity Award for Cross-Border and International Connectivity, the East West Gate project establishes a state-of-the-art DWDM backbone linking Prague, Berlin, Frankfurt, Poland and Lviv, Ukraine. Coordinated by Netia, the project enhances capacity, resilience and affordability across Europe’s eastern data routes.
Co-funded by the EU’s Connecting Europe Facility – Digital programme, it enables equal, open wholesale access for operators, improves redundancy and lowers connectivity costs for businesses and citizens. The project represents a key step in strengthening Europe’s digital integration and linking Ukraine’s networks with the EU’s single digital market.
