Dan Schwartz is the director of the Clean Energy Institute at the University of Washington, where he is also the Boeing-Sutter Professor of Chemical Engineering.
Dan is also an ECS fellow and recipient of national and campus awards recognizing excellence in education, research, and leadership. Recipient of the University's Distinguished Graduate Mentoring Award, Dan has been a participant and leader of graduate educational innovations that seek to keep UW students at the cutting edge of their field, including NSF interdisciplinary training programs in bioenergy, big data (hosted by the eSciences Institute), and Data Intensive Research to Enable CleanTech (DIRECT, hosted by the Clean Energy Institute).
In addition to his appearance with us today, Dan organized and is hosting the first ECS Data Sciences Hack Day that will take place this Wednesday. It’s ECS’s first foray into building an electrochemical data sciences and open source community from the ground up. A huge thank you to Dan for his leadership in this area!
