Glimpse started as an art school assignment: make a self-portrait in the form of an object. What came from that is a wild, eclectic handmade journal with a screenprinted self-portrait on the cover. Inside, you’ll find a crazy mix of ephemera and memorabilia from my life, plus the personal stories tied to each piece.
It’s an explosion of paint, paper, and experimentation—where I also began playing with my first handmade lino stamps. This book is both a self-portrait and a creative playground.
I’m Jennifer Akkermans, a mixed media visual artist who specializes in Intuitive Printmaking with acrylics on a gel plate. I’m known for bright, bold colors, playful patterns, and a love of happy accidents. I design my own stencils, and I can’t resist using found objects to add unexpected texture.
