Some things to note:
- slipoff positioning is incredibly tight, making phantom BD combos a nightmare to attempt. positioning example: I had an attempt with 132% after 3 dair combos, but on the 3rd combo, 4 hits of the dair went to the left instead of 3 hits as in this record. That made the 5th dair combo impossible to connect without losing nearly 2% on the bat drop positioning.
- 2f left at the end to still get FCFS, but FCFS occurs with a 5 frame window of incremental power, i.e., -2f = 7501.7 ft, -1f = 7511.2 ft, +1f = 754x ft, +2f = 755x ft
- phantom BD ideas: instant phantom on release = dair startup is too slow to incorporate real hit. 7% phantom = extremely close to working, but when I got it, bowser's height meant that dair did not instantly connect such that the real bat hit could occur—this might be possible by delaying slipoff rejump. 8%+ phantom = bat lands/falls below platform before real hit
- phantom BD up b does over 50%, but might be a bit too slow and not good enough to replace the ending/two slipoff combos
- 246% fail with phantom dair hit before slipoff, loses 4 frames to delay ff and I ran out of time at the end
- bowser is hot

Massive improvement and another character over 2 km! This was the hardest melee strat I've completed thus far for several reasons:
- Manually completed 4 times;
(1) finishing initial idea, couldn't pick up bat @ 322% fail. This was due to the last fair doing exactly 12.000% w/ pattern 2-4-6-8 in staling, whereas 11.9% would allow me to pick up the bat with 1 frame less hitstun
(2) retrying initial strat for more time
(3) revised strat to lower fair hitstun by 1 frame, but done on ft mode platform—this is slightly narrower than meters mode platform, so the bag fell off at the end
(4) revised strat on meters mode—luckily I got the correct RNG first try, so Lua script ended up unnecessary; but, I was ready to wield it!
- Spent time learning lua scripts to manage the RNG in this run, which is the bat disappearing during each shBDfair. Sandbag tumble animation w.r.t dair spacing also could be another instance of RNG if necessary to improve this run. Ideas for the future =)
- Brainstorming methodology to pick up the bat. 322% before swing is possible if fair staled to 11.9% or lower instead of 12%. Mario performs an empty item pickup in the 12% case because the bat moves out of pickup radius on the next frame. The revised strat here eliminates one phantom BD setup early on to stale fair more—then, he can pick up the bat frame perfectly at the end due to the staled fair's reduced hitstun.

Improvements (+2%):
- new beginning (+1%)—93% is possible with rjBDdair, but loses 3-4 frames. I opted to max BDs later instead
- second BDdair maxing (+1%)
- various BDdair maxing thereafter; however, I lose two aerial frames on the last BDdair due to the bag being upside down—I failed to realize it was upside down when I completed this strat at 6am! This leads to about 0.5%, so it's likely that 311% is possible here. I would rather find a new strategy :)

Wak's strat. I tried some variations sacrificing dair hits to add another phantom BD @ 17x%, but these resulted in fails. I also tried phantom BTU-landing nair / phantom bair-BTU-BDSB, which gets up to 72-74%. Unfortunately it is about half a second slower than a string of two BD dairs, and probably moves the sandbag into a bad spot to continue with BD dair.
Played on PAL60—Kirby's dair landing lag is reduced by 1f & platform is slightly higher resulting in further distance
Pause was so that I could act on a specific frame that was otherwise skipped due to the polling bug, which I didn't have the code on hand for PAL.
Improvements (+7%):
Landing hit phantom on all dairs (+4%)
Full dair 37% combo @ 139-176% (+2%)
Longer BD aerial time @ 176% (+0.5-1% overall, rng required on bat ground landing)

After doing thousands of attempts of max stats in City Trial, it was pretty cool to see a streak of three runs be realized, all of which were pretty darn good. The events were nasty—they hard carried me in this set of maxouts. This was done in January 2022!

AKA "Regular Tourneys," the new-game+ variant of the six tournaments done in the any% run. This allows for star characters and is faster than any% due to no best badges/drives. The category is actually pretty unique, as non-star Waluigi is now used in CCF and Sands due to familiarity corresponding to speed.

First time on legitimate WR pace with early hybrid, timely flea, lucky coconut, amazing axes, and overall fantastic luck. Missed an orchid mantis but found another without too much time, and petaltail took 5 minutes again—but the real final boss remains to be seen. Enjoy =)

Golden net speedruns in the Animal Crossing series involve catching every bug once. No need to donate! You start from a fresh savefile and have at it.
City Folk in particular relies on a good map (procedurally generated, meaning billions of possibilities) for the chores segment at the start, then the proximity of Nook's to your house for farming axes. Axes are used to chop down all of the trees in order to organize rare bugs spawning at accelerated rates. The route is super neat!

This run uses the newly discovered second iteration fixed shift! Whatever algorithm Camelot put in to "randomize" accuracy actually isn't so random still—there are patterns, and they are discoverable! Restarting once from the first hole for the second iteration of the course seems to always introduce the algorithm's convergence to a local minimum single solution for accuracy, which manifests as a hardest left mishit for every teeshot, and a hardest right mishit for every second shot on EVERY hole. It costs 6 seconds to set up, but is well worth it on the two courses I use it on in this run! You'll see why :D
In addition, the first iteration of courses also has a set of patterns in shift that vary, and certain cues on some holes point to a range of possibilities on future holes for the teeshots in particular. This is still being explored as of this upload, but its depth and contribution to runs is very promising!

Max Stats: Collect the maximum amount of all 9 power-ups ("stats") in one city. Picture example shown. 18 of all stats and 16 HP equals 160 total stats in one city.
Slow Tempo: a native game option to play at 40 fps or 2/3 speed, which allows much greater control and reaction timing. This makes this challenge genuinely possible—I believe the majority of the vehicles here would be impossible or not worth pursuing in normal tempo!

This run was a perfect ending with city routing, clutching out 200 miles simultaneously with the last stadium unlock needed. Unfortunately, I got cremated by Drag Race 2 and 3, as well as Destruction Derby 2 and a few Vs. DDD restarts to get spikes. Gave up about 3.5 minutes in the stadium split as a result, so plenty of improvement is possible. And... perhaps... sub 2 hours with 3 meteors :)

Yes dude, I beat the old version of the game where we could know EVERY SINGLE shot's accuracy. I went from knowing what every shot would do to knowing none of them as all shot accuracy in every version thereafter is completely randomized. Randomized accuracy happened with the v2.0.0 update on 8/6/2021, and has been that way since then. Before then, it was deterministic!
The strategy changed significantly, as the optimal style of play became one of "risk mitigation," in which many times the red zone is avoided if possible. Riser shots were refined, as well as club switching speed with the dpad.
Even with all of this in tow, I still made three total mistakes in this run (ridgerock 18, wildweather 9 and balmy 9), two of which were terrible RNG and one of which was a silly mistake on a putt. The old WR also had three total mistakes; however, I holed out once or twice more and was able to maintain that timesave overall. Only a few seconds were lost to changes in shot routing toward a risk mitigation tactic!

Charizard is a pretty strong lad, he doesn't need to swing anything except his head :D Note that the ending FCFS pushes the bag off the stage so that it is airborne when hit—this improves distance by roughly 100ft at this %!
Diddy has ~27 frames left in the end, maybe could squeeze another % out of the ending BD dair. I also wanted to use Diddy's banana toss into BTD, but he doesn't throw the banana if holding the bat (I don't know if this is an oversight, can't remember if it's the same way in other games).

Slow Tempo = 40 fps in game, found vanilla in game settings. It is a separate category from Normal Tempo's 60 fps due to the slower pace allowing for greater control and reaction time!
Only 2 alls at the start, just a pillar to help out. This is what it looks like when it all comes together regardless of supreme luck. I still can't believe how good this is. What in the world is the upper limit of this category if this run gets a sub 5? Hurts my head to think about...

I also tried to optimize Bowser as they suggested, but the strat is an absolute headache... I couldn't find a way to include phantom BDs, because in order to do so I have to be lower with each rejump after slipoff, which means less dair hits connect before landing. The strat fails when the landing dair hit connects since it has large lateral knockback, and you have to get enough dair hits before landing for the sandbag to be high enough such that that landing dair hit misses. Yeah, it sucks lol

This is my first SSBM BtT TAS :D This uses the hazard invincibility glitch done in adventure mode, but it is not necessary for the strat.
Broke PTAS's previous record by one frame. Thanks to Samplay for the beginning of this strat and theorycrafting during a very hype moment for the smash stadium crew lol. I wish I could help translate this over to something that is doable RTA, but progress has been made nonetheless!
As for this strat, it's pretty tough to overcome bottlenecks everywhere for saving time. I could've ended with 4.38 or 4.40, but in each scenario I'm displaced further right due to the platform and the dair misses the top target. I'm amazed I even got this to work lmao. Definitely was a fun night of wracking my brain though! Despite that bottleneck I found for my own movement, I expect this to be optimized further.

Cool. PCG barred me from a 53:xx, but I'm happy to update one of the longest standing records and one of my best from back in the day :) With an ending hole in one, nonetheless. First WR with my new mic, I have to learn to talk a bit quieter lol. Also my first MG:TT record with input display, so you can get a better grasp of how I make my shots! I noticed after watching this back that I do a lot of last frame flicks of the impact point, pretty unique.

Great run with some clutch moments. Also didn't choke the stadiums, not badly at least lol. If I had gotten DD2, I would've skipped DD 50 KOs (~65s timesave) and DD1 Rocks with Dyna's purple box (~65 seconds as well). I would also have had another checkbox freed up with the run's given list of achieved boxes, so possibly I would skip free run to save 30 seconds. Needless to say, sub 40 is possible and I would like to get it eventually :D

Fun run, Spiky Palms is very rough to optimize compared to Blustery Basin. Appropriately, they were the two courses I did the worst on in this run besides Balmy and NDC lol. Nonetheless, I have IL PBs for them already that I'm happy with, so more is possible.

Max stats is too addicting, so I started an alternate challenge to max out on a vehicle different from compact, with the caveat of needing to switch in the first 60 seconds. Unfortunately, or fortunately, the challenge didn't last very long... maybe non-warpstar attempts are needed LOL

City Trial Max Stats: Collect the maximum amount for all 9 power-ups, boost through HP, such that you can no longer increase the stats of your vehicle in a single city instance (up to 7 minutes long). A total of 160 stats equals a completion. You need 18 of every stat except HP, which caps at 16 due to City Trial mechanics (Start Game = -2 offset of every stat except HP, but all are visually represented as 0 on the pause screen).
Note that this is done on normal tempo, which makes this far more difficult as the game runs at 60 fps versus the 40 fps in Slow Tempo that grant you more control.
The rainbow part of this challenge is accomplishing this feat once with every Kirby color, totaling to eight times. As of this upload, still only three people have ever successfully completed one maxout on normal tempo, let alone eight. You could be #4! Slow tempo probably has many more unrecorded instances, but I believe normal tempo is hard enough to where people would have recorded it had they achieved it.

What's most impressive about this run (besides Badlands' chaos) is the lack of any bonus hole outs post-Lakitu Valley, meaning all courses thereafter had either perfect play or just enough to meet the hole skips for maintaining sub 50 pace. The splits' ratings from my perspective are:
Lakitu Valley - 4th best
Cheep Cheep Falls - above average
Shifting Sands - 3rd best
Blooper Bay - average par 5/3 skip
Peach Castle Grounds - 4th best
Bowser Badlands - a mess [BTT: ~8:33]
This is my 28th consecutive Any% world record since April 2017, and perhaps my final one until it is beaten. This also now stands as the time-to-beat for the persistent $1000 bounty on the Any% record (speedrun.com/mgtt/thread/g7bbk). Good luck :)

My 4th completed run here is of a different nature. Secret chamber alls, but look closely—at 3m17s left, those alls finish every stat except glide and 1 HP. This means I had every other stat at 12 or greater right around halfway through, which would already be one of my best runs ever. Had glide been up there too, this could've shaved another minute off... but good luck finding the RNG for that. This is the third time I've ever seen secret chamber alls personally, and to have it happen with a start as good as this—and then NOT have a bad event happen afterward—is a godsend. Maybe this record will stand the trial of time, maybe not.
With this run coming well before anticipated, and with my favorite color kirby getting a maxout, I decided to try to max out once with every kirby color. As of this upload, I have completed blue, purple, brown and white. Pink, yellow, red and green remain! :D

only continued this run because I albie'd rookie 18. got super unlucky in NDC on holes 7 and 8, but managed to clutch it out on 15. difference of one stroke for the 51!
Sorry, one hell of a monologue to finish off this run, but I included the King DDD fight and all emotions throughout. I will continue attempts for WR, I think :)
Max Stats: Max Stats in City Trial involves maxing out every possible type of power-up, tracked in the pause menu, for a total of 160. There are two separate categories—slow (40 fps) and normal tempo (60 fps). The spread is 18 for every stat except HP, which goes to 16. This is because stadium games start with a base 0 in every stat, while City Trial start game reduces every stat except HP to -2; however, the pause menu shows every stat at 0, so the minimum for non-HP stats is -14 and the maximum 18 (-16 to +16). There are no All downs. All ups appear during the city as a result of Vs. King DDD selected as the stadium, which changes the item spawn list very slightly to include very rare chances at alls outside of events.

Pretty happy with this run. Everything got a lot harder once we ripped off the bandaid of deterministic accuracies across the board, but that just means these runs get stacked and nerve-wracked when every shot starts going your way. Now it's a game of risk mitigation, management, and crossing fingers at times. Plus, the tyfoos blow your ball a million miles away lol

How far we've come, lol. I struggled a bit to hit nearly frame perfectly on hole 2 and thereafter due to some nerves. The toilet bowl on hole 9 also cost a second... but otherwise, the strong finish sealed the deal. You can get -36 with Miis without any extra holes in one, so this officially requires you to get an ace somewhere to beat it. Regular characters lose the albies on 12 and 18, as well as the eagle on 17 in a normal round without chip ins.

Biggest mistake was Ridgerock 17, about 12 seconds there. Silly putts in Rookie as well lol. 46 is more than doable, but I don't think 45 is possible without 5+ bonus chips and perfect play. DLC will push this category to the grave regardless :D

WWW2 hole in one though? GAMER. Bowser is pretty good :) Note: this is done using button controls, the main category. Motion control is a different style of gameplay that is harder to optimize in score, but is faster overall.

This is one of the most frustrating things I've done in this game. When characters get this strong, NOTHING MAKES ANY DANG SENSE
So chew on this run, my only real mistake is on hole 10. Everything else more than made up for it, including some good meme shots. Think I spent around 8 hours on this total. GL beating it :D
