Yale University | Ebola Ten Years On - Reflections and Lessons Learned (French-English subtitles) @yale | Uploaded 10 months ago | Updated 2 hours ago
December 2023 marks the 10-year anniversary of the emergence of Ebola in the West African country of Guinea, an event that caused a tragic epidemic and more than 10,000 deaths in Guinea and its neighboring countries Liberia and Sierra Leone. Since the 2013-15 Ebola epidemic, the world has experienced numerous global health threats, such as further Ebola outbreaks, Marburg, Measles, and COVID-19, among others. During this webinar, senior health leaders who responded to the Ebola epidemic in the three countries of Liberia, Guinea, and Sierra Leone will share their reflections on the weaknesses in healthcare, public health, and health financing that exacerbated the Ebola crisis in their countries, as well as lessons learned that can be or have already been applied to respond better to emerging infectious disease threats, build more resilient health systems, and improve health outcomes globally.
