Hey everybody!
Welcome back and today we are going to take another take-out dish and add it to your own kitchen arsenal, with this super easy and delicious recipe you will wonder why you got take-out in the first place.
Do the prep first!
The thickener first
1 heaping tablespoon of cornstarch
1/2 cup of water
mix and set aside
The chicken
4 boneless skinless chicken breasts cut into large-ish chunks
1/4th cup cornstarch
mix and coat every piece with cornstarch
set aside
The Sauce fixins
1 diced red chili
2 tablespoons of minced garlic
5 thin slices of ginger
2 teaspoons of sesame oil
2 tablespoons of brown sugar
2 tablespoons of soy sauce
4 tablespoons of hoisin
once everything is ready to go we can start cooking!
1 - Add oil to a wok or pan and don't be like me... wait for the oil to get very hot and then add in your chicken this should take about 10 minutes and once it reaches golden brown delicious remove and put on a separate plate.
2 - without taking the pot off the heat add in your ginger, garlic, and red chili. (if there is a lot of oil remaining drain most of the oil to make the sauce less oily but its still delish if you don't)
3 - after 30ish seconds of frying add in the hoisin, soy sauce, brown sugar, sesame oil, and the cornstarch mixture and mix until sauce gets thick and bubbly.
4 - Add in your crispy chicken and coat in the thick and delicious sauce, serve over rice or just eat it out of a bowl while standing in the middle of the kitchen....... we don't judge here
5 - Enjoy!
