This one isn't a meal, but a drink- specifically, a shrub (which dates back to the 1600s and has been consumed pretty much always since then. It's very refreshing in the summer- it's basically fruit, sugar, and vinegar, cooked into a syrup. The end result can be diluted to desired strength in water (or carbonated water- my favorite), drizzled over ice cream, added to a cocktail, etc.
