Quick Salisbury Steak
-4 quarter lb beef patties
-2 Tbsp butter
-2 Tbsp olive oil
-3 Tbsp all-purpose flour
-1 Tbsp tomato paste
-2 tsp Worcestershire sauce
-2 cups beef broth
-1 tsp onion powder
-1 tsp garlic powder
-8 ounces sliced baby bella mushrooms
-1/2 large yellow onion, diced
-salt and pepper to taste
1: Season beef patties on both sides with salt and pepper.
2: Add oil to pan, and cook meat for 3 minutes on each side over medium high heat. We are just searing the outside. The inside of the meat is not done. Remove meat from pan and set aside.
3: Reduce heat to medium. Add onion to the pan, and sauté until translucent. Roughly 5 minutes.
4: Stir in onion powder and garlic powder.
5: Add butter to pan, and let melt.
6: Stir in flour, whisking constantly to remove any clumps. Let cook for roughly 1 minute, until flour browns slightly.
7: Whisk in beef broth.
8: Stir in mushrooms, and add the beef patties back to the pan.
9: Reduce heat to medium/low, and let simmer for 10 to 15 minutes until the gravy is thickened, the meat is done in the center, and the mushrooms are soft.
Serve over rice or mashed potatoes. I like roasted potatoes with mine.
