Source 2050 was built to address two of the challenges that project teams face when building to Passive House or other energy efficient standards - finding the best solutions for their project, and then sourcing them to the job site. We will demonstrate how Source 2050 - built in close consultation with architects, engineers, contractors, vendors, and other industry professionals - provides the tools to let you know specify and source the best solutions more efficiently.

Constructing buildings and coordinating with other trades such as refrigeration/HVAC ended up being critical experiences that informed Kevin’s worldview as he entered the world of entrepreneurship. Kevin founded HAVEN (originally TZOA) at the age of 23, after experiencing high levels of carcinogenic crystalline silica dust on industrial worksites. New regulatory changes in Canada proposed to enforce safety, but there existed no convenient or affordable way to monitor exposure levels. We care about our water & food quality, but lack a tangible way to see the impact the air we breathe has on our wellbeing.Thinking bigger impact, Kevin conceptualized a wearable air quality monitor for global citizens that could crowdsource outdoor pollution data from thousands of devices onto city-wide maps in real-time, a product that won best inventions of 2015 awards from Time Magazine and Popular Science. Eventually it became clear that air quality data and the identification of problems didnt create enough value, the problems needed solving, and without requiring changes in human behaviour. Our product line HAVEN emerged as a way to automatically improve indoor air quality (IAQ) with the insight that we can control our indoor environments in the same way we can control our indoor temperature through heating & cooling (HVAC) systems. Lucy Cameron, Product Lead, HAVEN Lucy’s number one passion is trying to understand people and how we can build stronger products that solve real problems for them. She was attracted to HAVEN’s vision and mission to help people live better, healthier lives almost 6 years ago. Since then, she has fallen in love with the way HVAC practices can have a profound impact on people’s health and the health and longevity of the building itself.
